Ukrainian authorities investigating corruption within President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office have revealed ongoing probes involving top officials. This development adds to the political turmoil in Ukraine as it continues to grapple with the conflict with Russia, now in its fifth year.
An operation is underway to uncover a criminal network reportedly led by a current and former lawmaker, with alleged involvement of high-ranking figures from the presidential office. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office issued a joint statement confirming the investigations, promising more details to follow.
In response to the probe, Zelenskyy dismissed Iryna Mudra from her role as deputy head of the president’s office through a decree. This latest scrutiny presents another challenge to Zelenskyy’s leadership, following previous controversies that have tested his political resilience.
Last month, Zelenskyy replaced Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a move that sparked further unrest. The Ukrainian parliament has since approved the appointment of Yevhenii Khmara as the new defence minister, with strong backing from lawmakers.
