“52-Year-Old Arrested for Cattle Brand Fraud in Saskatchewan”

RCMP have arrested a 52-year-old individual following an inquiry into allegations of fraudulently altering cattle brands. Livestock branding is a common method to establish ownership of animals. On July 6, Livestock Services of Saskatchewan received a report regarding tampered cattle brands at a farm situated in the rural municipality of Martin, approximately 225 kilometers east of Regina, as announced by the RCMP in a news release on Wednesday. Owen Third, the livestock investigator for Saskatchewan RCMP, collaborated with Moosomin RCMP officers and Livestock Services of Saskatchewan to examine 197 cattle at the farm. RCMP disclosed that 99 of the cattle exhibited modified brands placed over the original marks, while the rest were found to have been fraudulently rebranded. The accused individual faces charges of altering a cattle brand and committing fraud exceeding $5,000. A court appearance for the accused is scheduled for next month.
