John Tory, previously the mayor of Toronto, has taken on the role of chair for the board of directors at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tory expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with TIFF’s board, leaders, artists, filmmakers, and the wider community to influence the organization’s future.
His term is set to commence on October 1, following a recent announcement. The festival is scheduled to run from September 10 to 20 this year. Tory succeeds Jeffrey Remedios, who held the position of chair since 2021. Remedios commended TIFF and its leadership, stating his enduring pride in his contributions to the festival’s journey.
Additionally, TIFF revealed the appointment of three new board members: Deborah Flint, David Furnish, and Daniel Tisch Echevarría. Meanwhile, Asha Daniere, a board member for nine years, will be stepping down. TIFF expressed gratitude for Daniere’s dedicated service and contributions to the organization.
