Environment Canada has lifted a yellow warning for severe weather following a storm that swept through parts of southern Alberta on Tuesday evening. The agency had warned of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain as the storm progressed from Claresholm towards areas near Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.
The initial warning, issued earlier on Tuesday afternoon, highlighted the potential for a hazardous thunderstorm capable of generating baseball-sized hail and causing damage to buildings and trees. A video showcasing the hailstorm in Claresholm was also shared.
As of Tuesday night, a yellow watch for a severe thunderstorm remained active in a large area stretching from Claresholm to Hays and extending south to the U.S. border. For the most current updates, individuals are encouraged to visit the Environment Canada website.
