David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham with a quick lap time of 1:14.194. Following closely behind, Alex Palou clocked in at 1:14.560 for the second-best time, while Dennis Hauger secured the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 on the downtown road course in Markham.
Due to incomplete track preparations and safety inspections, the first day of track sessions had to be canceled by the organizers. This delay was a setback for the event.
This year marks Markham’s debut as the host city for the race, which was previously held at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986. Palou had also shown impressive speed earlier in the day, recording the fastest time of 1:14.9915 during the morning practice session.
The qualifying round is scheduled to take place in the evening, adding more excitement and anticipation to the racing event.
