The U.S. trade representative under President Donald Trump has affirmed that any retaliatory actions from Canada over the latest tariff threat would not be tolerated. According to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, the administration’s focus is on safeguarding domestic supply chains rather than engaging in a trade war specifically with Canada.

Recent trade discussions between Canada and the U.S. have intensified following Trump’s announcement of imposing a 50 percent tariff on numerous Canadian goods effective August 19.
