Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg have been arrested and charged with assault following an incident where a player from the Winnipeg Sea Bears team was seriously injured earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was taken to the hospital after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and accused of causing bodily harm through assault, the police disclosed in a press release on Thursday. They have all been released under certain conditions. Although the nightclub was not specifically named by the police, it was situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a medical prognosis, and is presently recuperating at home, as stated in a written declaration released by the team on Thursday. In his statement, Allen expressed that the assault was unwarranted and emphasized that such incidents should not occur to anyone under any circumstances. He further mentioned his resilience, stating that he will rise above the situation. Individuals possessing any information regarding the incident, such as dashcam footage, security footage, or cellphone recordings taken during that period, are urged to contact the Winnipeg police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online. CBC News has attempted to reach out to the Sea Bears for their input on the matter.
