Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has made a comeback from retirement to join Canada’s four-player lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old Plouffe reunites with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the tournament commencing this Saturday.
Canada is currently positioned 10th in the women’s series rankings as they enter the crucial phase of the regular season. The top seven teams, in addition to host China, will progress to the women’s series final in Shanghai on September 5-6. Bangkok presents one of Canada’s final chances to accumulate essential qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed, “As we assessed our standing in the women’s series and the necessary push towards Shanghai, Michelle emerged as a logical choice for us.” He added, “Bangkok provides an opportunity to enhance our team with a remarkable player at this pivotal juncture, while allowing Michelle to return to competition and evaluate her readiness.”
Michelle Plouffe retired on July 28, 2025, transitioning into her role as Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager. Her accomplishments include guiding Canada to numerous FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series triumphs, a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.
