Millions of viewers witnessed a total solar eclipse in various regions on Wednesday, including parts of the Arctic, Greenland, Spain, and Portugal. Those outside the path of totality experienced a partial eclipse. Here are some highlights from the event.
In Spain’s Catalonia region, spectators observed the eclipse from the sea port of Tarragona. In Berlin, the moon started to cover the sun during the solar eclipse. In western Germany, a skywatcher peered through eclipse glasses at the Halde Hoheward park in Herten. In Warsaw, a woman used a welder’s mask to view the solar eclipse at the Copernicus Science Centre. In Spain’s A Coruña, the moon obscured the sun during the eclipse. At Puerto de Sagunto beach near Valencia, Spain, a beachgoer wore special eclipse glasses during the initial phase of the event. In Reykjavík, Iceland, people gathered to watch the solar eclipse despite cloudy skies. An aircraft flew past the sun during the eclipse in Bernex near Geneva, Switzerland.
The total solar eclipse was captured from various locations, including Arija and the Riet Vell Nature Reserve near Amposta in Spain. The images showcased different stages of the eclipse, creating stunning visuals.
