The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a commanding 85-38 victory on Wednesday at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.
Canada took an early lead, securing a 23-4 advantage at Arena Astros and extending it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, which features eight teams, will run until Sunday.
Previously defeating Senegal 72-57 in the tournament opener on Monday, the Canadian team is set to face host nation Mexico on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
