The 2026 induction ceremony for the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame featured notable inductees such as former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, former Carleton Ravens men’s head coach Dave Smart, and Olympic flag-bearer Miranda Ayim. Magloire, who had a 12-season NBA career and was the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors, achieved all-star status in 2004 with the New Orleans Hornets. He later transitioned to coaching, serving as an assistant coach for the Raptors during their championship-winning season in 2018-19 and currently holding the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Smart’s tenure as the head coach of Carleton’s men’s basketball program was marked by immense success, leading the team to 13 U Sports championships, establishing a dynasty within the university league. Ayim, a prominent figure in Canadian basketball, captained the senior women’s national team and shared the honor of carrying the national flag alongside rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The class of 2026 was officially announced on July 2, showcasing a diverse group of basketball figures set to be enshrined at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B. Alongside Magloire, Smart, and Ayim, the class includes players Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, and Teresa Kleindienst, coaches Peter (Doc) Ryan, official Janice Deakin, and builder Dr. Andrew Pipe, totaling a 10-member induction class worthy of recognition in the Canadian basketball community.
