Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, Niagara Region, and nearby areas experienced their initial snowfall of the season on Sunday. The issuance of a special weather statement by Environment Canada in the morning warned of a potential snow accumulation ranging from two to 10 centimeters in the region. The snowfall is anticipated to persist into the evening. Friday’s forecast from Trudy Kidd, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, highlighted that this snow was the first taste of winter weather for much of southern Ontario. Environment Canada’s statement emphasized the likelihood of a low-pressure system ushering in significant snowfall across parts of southern Ontario on Sunday. The agency anticipates that road surfaces, due to their relatively warm state, will accumulate less snow. Motorists were cautioned to prepare for challenging winter driving conditions and advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Additionally, Environment Canada recommended the prompt installation of winter tires for all residents in the area to ensure road safety during winter conditions.
