The Vancouver Whitecaps are set to face off against San Diego FC in California this Saturday for the Major League Soccer’s Western Conference final.
Soccer enthusiasts who purchased tickets for a potential MLS playoff game at B.C. Place will receive refunds following San Diego FC’s 1-0 victory over the Minnesota Loons in the conference semifinals on Monday night.
The Whitecaps emerged victorious in their conference semifinal last weekend, securing a spot in the Western Conference final after a penalty shootout win against Los Angeles FC at B.C. Place in front of a crowd of 54,000 fans.
San Diego, the top team in the West during the regular season, will square off against the fourth-placed Loons in the Western Conference final.
The upcoming match between the Whitecaps and San Diego is scheduled for Saturday in California, with a 6 p.m. PT kickoff. The winner will progress to the MLS championship on December 6, facing either Inter Miami CF led by Lionel Messi or New York City FC, who will battle it out in the Eastern Conference final on the same day.
Ticket holders were informed via email by Ticketmaster that refunds for the potential Vancouver game will be issued automatically through the original payment method, requiring no further action.
This development comes after tickets went on sale at B.C. Place last Sunday for a potential match against Minnesota, which Vancouver would have hosted based on their superior regular-season performance.
