“P.E.I. Braces for Season’s First Big Snowstorm”

Prince Edward Islanders should prepare their shovels as Environment Canada forecasts the initial significant snowfall of the season in the middle of the week. The weather agency has issued a special weather statement for all three counties of P.E.I., cautioning about snowfall expected to start on Tuesday afternoon and persist until Wednesday afternoon. The statement highlights that snow is likely to begin late on Tuesday, with the most severe conditions anticipated for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning due to a developing system. There is a possibility of snowfall accumulation exceeding 15 centimeters, accompanied by northeasterly wind gusts ranging between 60 to 80 km/h. The agency also noted that slight variations in the system’s path could lead to significant changes in snowfall amounts, with coastal areas potentially experiencing a mix of snow and rain. CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin mentioned that eastern parts of the Island might witness more snow compared to the western areas, depending on the system’s trajectory.
