The upcoming 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina are just 100 days away, and Canadians will have access to comprehensive coverage. CBC/Radio-Canada, known as Canada’s Paralympic Network, revealed plans for around-the-clock coverage, including over 120 original hours of broadcast coverage and an additional 800 hours of live streaming on various platforms. The Games in Northern Italy, taking place from March 6 to March 15, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympics, a significant milestone in the Paralympic movement.

Approximately 600 athletes from across the globe will participate in 79 events spanning six sports: Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling. The Canadian athlete delegation will be announced between November and February. Marie-Philippe Bouchard, the president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada, expressed excitement about supporting these athletes and providing expanded Paralympics coverage with features like closed captioning, described video, and ASL for all Canadians to enjoy.

CBC and CBC Gem will host three daily live shows, including “Petro-Canada Paralympic Games Today,” “Paralympic Winter Games Primetime” with Stef Reid, a three-time Paralympic medallist, and “Paralympic Winter Games Late Night,” also hosted by Reid. The broadcast team will include Paralympic medallists Marissa Papaconstantinou and Nathan Clement as special contributors, along with a lineup of expert commentators and analysts for each sport.

Radio-Canada will also offer extensive coverage with various daily shows, including “Milan Maintenant” and “Le Résumé Paralympique.” Digital coverage will be available on CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, with over 800 hours of live streaming content. Additionally, CBC Sports will feature exclusive digital series on social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram to keep audiences engaged.

A promotional campaign called “Where It Begins” launched by the Canadian Olympic Committee and CBC/Radio-Canada will spotlight Para athletes and their inspiring journeys from local communities to the global stage. The coverage aims to engage viewers and celebrate the remarkable achievements of Paralympic athletes leading up to the Games.
