Over 150 corgis gathered for an international race in Vilnius, Lithuania, celebrating these small herding dogs from Wales. The event featured a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a loudest bark competition. Participants from nine countries, including the United States and the UK, showcased their corgis at the fifth Corgi Race Vilnius, making it the largest edition to date.

Organizer Edvinas Miskas noted the significant growth of the event, from 40 corgis in the first year to 150 from various countries this year. The competition included 94 dogs racing over 25 meters, with the American corgi GG, aka Gustave the Girl Dog, emerging as the winner. Mr. Corgington from the US secured the second spot, and Lithuania’s Moka, a former two-time champion, finished third.

Aside from the racing, the event highlighted other talents of the corgis and their owners. A costume parade featured corgis in creative outfits, with Amigo winning the best costume title. In the “smartest nose” challenge, Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty shared the victory for finding hidden treats. The loudest bark contest was won by Mr. Corgington, showcasing the diverse skills of the beloved corgis.

The competition drew a mix of experienced participants and newcomers, with half of this year’s corgis in Vilnius joining for the first time. Notable veterans, including costume winner Amigo, Foksas, Foksis, Madeira, Bulka, and Dziugas, have been part of every edition, adding to the event’s charm and tradition.
