Nearly four years ago, Sokvin Vann found herself stuck in a rut in her life. At the suggestion of her brother, she turned to her passion for K-pop and the popular boy band BTS to create the BTS Army Toronto fan club. The club, named after the broader BTS fan base known as the “army,” organizes events and meet-ups to bring together fans who share a love for the South Korean band.

Despite facing the loss of her brother shortly after establishing BTS Army Toronto, Vann persevered and grew the club into a vibrant community. The organization now hosts numerous fan events, giveaways, fundraisers, and actively supports local Korean businesses. As BTS gears up for their highly anticipated return to Toronto after more than a decade, Vann, along with her son Jordan and a dedicated team of about 10 people, are excited to welcome the band.

The BTS Army Toronto community has not only provided a sense of belonging for fans but has also brought profound personal fulfillment to Vann. She expressed how the friendships and connections formed through the shared passion for music have been incredibly rewarding.

As part of their Arirang World Tour, BTS is set to perform sold-out shows at Rogers Stadium in Toronto over the weekend. The city recently unveiled BTS Boulevard on Yonge Street to commemorate the concerts, featuring a red design inspired by the tour branding. The City of Toronto has also declared Saturday and Sunday as BTS Weekend, symbolized by lighting up the Toronto sign in purple, a color associated with BTS and its fans.

Known for their impactful music and meaningful lyrics touching on various themes like mental health and self-love, BTS has garnered a devoted following worldwide. Vann highlighted the band’s commitment to creating music that makes a positive impact on listeners.

After a hiatus due to mandatory military service, BTS is back on their world tour, with Toronto being their only Canadian stop. Their album “ARIRANG” debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, showcasing the group’s continued success and influence in the music industry.

Fans like Vann and Aira Uy are eagerly anticipating the concerts, considering them a significant moment after the challenges of the past few years. The enthusiasm for BTS’s return is palpable, with fans flocking to official merchandise stores and eagerly awaiting the performances.

In preparation for the concerts, BTS Army Toronto is actively engaging with fans through various activities during the Toronto Korean Festival and hosting events near the venue. Vann is particularly excited about the unique concert experience that BTS is known for, anticipating the emotional connection and sense of gratitude that will follow.

As the BTS community in Toronto gears up for the long-awaited concerts, Vann and fellow fans are looking forward to an unforgettable experience that will leave a lasting impact on their lives.
