Stellantis has commenced the production of its 2026 Dodge Charger gasoline-powered models at the Windsor Assembly Plant, as announced by the company on Tuesday. The automaker revealed that the two variants of the SIXPACK engine offer 420 and 550 horsepower respectively, with both configurations available in both two-door coupes and four-door sedans.

Trevor Longley, the President and CEO of Stellantis Canada, described the launch as a significant achievement for the automaker. Longley emphasized that the Dodge Charger, built in Windsor, provides customers with the option to choose between internal combustion engine (ICE) or battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrains to suit their preferences, combining high performance with advanced innovation.

CEO of Dodge, Matt McAlear, emphasized that this marks a pivotal moment in the introduction of the new Dodge Charger multi-energy muscle car lineup. McAlear praised the Unifor-represented workers at Windsor Assembly for their efforts in producing the new Charger models, which have already garnered multiple accolades and offer a diverse range of energy options.

The company disclosed that the initial units will start arriving at dealerships this month. To meet the expected demand, Windsor Assembly is set to introduce a third shift and hire up to 1,500 new employees in early 2026, with recruitment activities already in progress.

Stellantis had previously announced a $13 billion US investment over four years to enhance manufacturing capabilities in the U.S., resulting in the relocation of the planned production of the Jeep Compass from Brampton to the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois. In its recent statement, Stellantis highlighted that the launch of the 2026 Dodge Charger SIXPACK models underscores Canada’s position as a key component of the company’s global operations.
