A 21-year-old man from Richmond County faces various sexual offense charges, including sexual interference, sexual assault, and creating child sexual abuse materials. Eskasoni RCMP responded to reports of the man causing a disturbance at a residence on November 19, attempting to gain entry to see a young individual inside.
Police investigations revealed that the man initiated an online relationship with a youth aged between 12 and 15 in September. He was apprehended at his Chapel Island home on November 22, where law enforcement executed a search warrant and confiscated an electronic device.
The accused is charged with sexual interference, sexual assault, production of child sexual abuse material, luring a child, providing sexually explicit content to a child, break and enter, and making threats. He is currently in custody and is set to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on December 16.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims and urge anyone with relevant information to contact their local RCMP detachment or law enforcement agency. In case of immediate danger, individuals are advised to call 911. Support services and crisis lines can be found through the Ending Sexual Violence Association of Canada database.
