Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt concern. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor improperly attached to the vehicle’s structure. This issue could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis has been made aware of one injury possibly linked to this problem, there have been no reported fatalities associated with the recall.

The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange inspections at authorized dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will examine and, if necessary, correctly attach the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchors to the vehicle’s body for safety compliance.
