London residents are facing wintry conditions and a challenging morning commute as snow squalls from Lake Huron blanket the area. Over 20 cm of snow has already fallen in parts of southwestern Ontario since Sunday night, with an additional 15 cm expected through this morning and early afternoon. Weather officials have issued a snow squall warning for the region, anticipating the heaviest snow bands to move east of London later today.
“Visibility may drop suddenly to near zero at times,” cautioned Environment Canada. “Be prepared for rapidly changing and worsening travel conditions.” Following the snowfall, there is a 40% chance of flurries on Tuesday, with temperatures gradually rising over the week.
While school buses are operating in the region, delays are reported citywide. Parents are advised to visit the My Big Yellow Bus website for updates. Despite the challenging weather, some individuals were spotted staying warm around a small fire in downtown London on Monday morning.
