A new green space named O-day’min Park has opened in downtown Edmonton as part of the Warehouse Park Project. This initiative, aimed at transforming gravel parking areas into a community park, spans 1.81 hectares between 106th Street and 108th Street, and from Jasper Avenue to 102nd Avenue.

Funded by the Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy, the $48.6 million project is considered a crucial catalyst venture outlined in the Capital City Downtown Plan. O-day’min, which translates to “strawberry” or “heart-berry” in Anishinaabe, is also the namesake of the downtown ward where the park is situated.

The completion of O-day’min Park has generated interest in nearby private development projects. Maclab Development Group has finished a 363-unit apartment tower adjacent to the park, with plans underway to develop additional land in the vicinity.

Several projects, totaling 1,604 residential units, are projected to be completed or undergoing construction near the park by November 2026. Various developers, including Westrich Pacific and Autograph Group, have expressed their commitment to contributing to the community by investing in downtown Edmonton.

Mayor Andrew Knack highlighted the significant impact of the park, emphasizing that the initial skepticism about investing in the park has been proven wrong with the substantial residential development it has attracted. The park’s opening signifies a positive step towards revitalizing and enhancing the downtown core of Edmonton.
