ITV response to Celebrity Big Brother star Angellica Bell and Martin Lewis

Must read

ITV insisted there was no bad blood between Angellica Bell, and Martin Lewis – despite the Celebrity Big Brother star suddenly leaving the Martin Lewis Money show after six years at the helm in 2023.

Angellica, 49, who was evicted from CBB last night, broke down in the star-studded house as she recalled the tough time she’d had following her exit from the popular programme, with reports at the time suggesting there was a feud between her and Martin. Initially, Angellica was bluntly informed that her presence was no longer needed on the Money Show before she was swiftly replaced by the former Olympian turned broadcaster, Jeanette Kwakye.

When contacted about rumours of a rift between the Kids TV star and money man, Martin, ITV said all was well between the pair, issuing a statement saying: “Angellica is not working on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, however, the relationship with her remains amicable and we are working with her on other forthcoming programmes.”

Angellica, who boasts an impressive 25 years of TV presenting experience, had worked on the show since 2017, and signed up to present the rebranded version of The Gadget Show – Shop Smart, Save Money on Channel 5.

However, it was then reported that the show move presented a ‘conflict of interest’, and Angellica was swiftly swiped from the schedule.

The seasoned host, who is married to fellow presenter, Michael Underwood, broke down on CBB last night as she admitted she was worried she was going to be asked about Martin while on the show.

Sitting in the diary room, she said: “I’m going to be honest with you, I didn’t think I’d get this far. I’m still pinching myself that I’m here.

“I’ve loved every minute, it’s probably the best thing I’ve done in a long time. Before I came in here, I was a little bit scared. The press were asking me if I would talk about the Martin Lewis Show and stuff, it took me a long time to get over that.

“I was so grateful to all of the audience who messaged me about it, also to other celebrities who contacted me and stuff because those messages are what got me through.

“That’s why I wanted to come onto this show and tap into my old self because it’s taken me a long time. Every cloud”

As she sniffled, Big Brother told her: “Angelica, Big Brother thinks you’re doing really well.” She replied: “You know what, I think I found myself again being here.”

Speaking to the Mirror, Angellica’s friend, CBBC co-host Andrew Hayden-Smith, said he thought she would mention what really happened with Martin, but only if the conversation came up, saying: “Maybe, if it comes up. I did ask her if she would address it, and she said ‘yeah, if it comes up in conversation’. It happened, you know?”

* Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight on ITV at 9pm
