Toronto Blue Jays star player Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been cleared to return to the lineup after coming off the seven-day injured list. Guerrero is set to play against the New York Yankees on Saturday.
The incident that led to Guerrero’s injury occurred during a game against the Yankees last week in Toronto. A collision with New York’s rookie shortstop, George Lombard Jr., on a peculiar play at third base forced Guerrero to exit the game prematurely.
Following his recovery process, Guerrero successfully completed his concussion tests and participated in batting practice after featuring in a minor league rehab game for single-A Dunedin.
Guerrero’s return to the lineup comes after the Blue Jays suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Yankees in the series opener on Friday. In a corresponding roster move, the team sent infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider down to triple-A Buffalo.
Currently, Guerrero holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 runs batted in. Prior to his injury, he had been in good form, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
