Netflix has announced a three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” promising a comprehensive look at the Canadian actor’s life.
The series will delve into Perry’s journey from a rising comedic talent to his iconic role on the NBC hit show. It will feature never-before-heard accounts from his inner circle, including close friends and his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly discussed her mourning process after Perry’s death. Bowick expressed that it took time for her to be ready to share her memories and depict the complexities of loving Matthew beyond his public persona as Chandler and his struggles with addiction.
Matthew Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54 due to a ketamine overdose in his backyard hot tub. Several individuals pleaded guilty to charges related to providing him with the drug, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia, the supplier of ketamine to Perry, currently appealing his 30-month prison sentence.
Netflix assured that the docuseries will not only showcase fond memories of Perry but also reveal new insights into his personal battles, aiming to honor his legacy of transparency and advocacy. The series is scheduled to premiere on October 27.
