The Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded to a call at a home located near 121 Street and 101B Avenue after 9 p.m., where they encountered several individuals present at the scene. Police confirmed that only one woman was harmed and subsequently taken to a medical facility.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton stated in a press release on Monday morning, “At this preliminary stage, the motive behind the shooting is being investigated, and our investigators will collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to explore any possible connections to ongoing cases. There is currently no evidence linking this incident to extortion activities.”
Authorities are urging individuals with information regarding the shooting or those who were present in the vicinity between 8:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Sunday to come forward.
Injuries to SPS Officers on the Way
During their response to the shooting, two SPS officers were injured in a collision and subsequently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Houghton mentioned in an email to CBC News that the officers’ SUV was hit by another vehicle near 125 Street and 96 Avenue as they rushed to the shooting location with lights and sirens on. The occupants of the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries, and an investigation is underway regarding the collision.
