American rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, was taken into custody in Miami Beach on charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident, as confirmed by local authorities. Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor battery charge and was released from jail after posting a cash bond, as per online court documents.
According to reports, an unidentified woman living with Ross claimed he physically assaulted her on August 28, accusing her of infidelity and striking her multiple times. She alleged that Ross choked her with her shirt collar and forcefully pushed her against a wall. The incident was reported on Tuesday, leading to Ross surrendering himself at the local police station the following Thursday.
In response to the allegations, Ross took to Instagram to assert his innocence, dismissing the accusations as baseless. His legal representatives have stated that Ross entered a plea of not guilty to both charges. They urge the public to refrain from forming premature judgments and allow the legal process to proceed.
Ross gained prominence as a Miami-based rapper in the early 2000s, achieving success with his debut single “Hustlin'” in 2006 and later signing with Jay Z’s Def Jam Records. His first album, “Port of Miami,” debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2008, he established his own label, Maybach Music Group, and signed artists such as Meek Mill and French Montana.
An arraignment for the case has been scheduled for October 22. If you are in immediate danger or affected by intimate partner violence, please seek assistance from crisis lines and local support services.
