Canadian ski jumper and Olympic hopeful, Alex Loutitt, with Nihtat Gwich’in heritage, is currently focused on recovering from an ACL injury sustained in late September. Despite the challenges, Loutitt remains optimistic about her progress, acknowledging the slow but steady improvement in her knee following surgery.
In a recent interview with CBC’s Wanda Mcleod from Austria, Loutitt expressed gratitude for the support she has received during her recovery journey. She emphasized the importance of physiotherapy and simpler workout routines in her rehabilitation process, highlighting the need for patience and tranquility to aid in healing.
While coming to terms with the disappointment of missing the upcoming 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, Loutitt reflected on her pride in representing Canada and the North. Although she will not be able to compete in the upcoming Olympics, she remains in contact with her Team Canada colleagues, drawing strength from their encouragement as she continues to train and recover in Europe.
Looking ahead, Loutitt aims to resume jumping by July, understanding that the road to full recovery may take up to nine months. Despite the setback, she views this experience as an opportunity to enhance her athletic performance by learning valuable lessons in patience and long-term goal setting. Loutitt remains determined to support her teammates and partner at the upcoming Olympics, even if it means being a spectator from the sidelines.
