In court on Tuesday, the ninth witness against Tony Humby resumed testimony after leaving abruptly last week. The young man, protected by a publication ban, completed questioning by the prosecution and faced cross-examination by the defense. He detailed three incidents involving alleged sexual exploitation orchestrated by Humby, including payment for sex acts and rape following a night of substance use.

During his testimony, the witness recalled seeking guidance from his mother about appropriate age differences in relationships, triggering his decision to report the abuse to the authorities. Despite the emotional toll, he persevered, expressing a mix of sadness, anger, and fear of judgment from others.

Under cross-examination, defense counsel Mark Gruchy focused on the witness’s criminal history, a tactic employed with previous witnesses. The witness, with a history of offenses, confronted Gruchy on what he perceived as discrimination, attributing part of his criminal behavior to the alleged abuse.

Before a break, the witness asserted his status as a victim, prompting the judge to remind him of his role as a witness. The trial also featured a video where Humby suggested he was being set up by the witness and another individual, an allegation the witness vehemently denied.

The proceedings will resume with the witness’s continued cross-examination on Wednesday.
