Mathieu Barsalou scored four touchdowns to lead the Montreal Carabins to a 49-19 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in the Uteck Bowl. The Carabins will now advance to the Vanier Cup, the national championship game of U Sports football, where they will face the Saskatchewan Huskies. Saskatchewan secured their spot in the Vanier Cup by defeating the Queen’s University Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl shortly after Montreal’s win.

Carabins’ quarterback Pepe Gonzalez completed 18 of 26 passes for 168 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception. Enrique Jaimes Leclair caught Gonzalez’s touchdown pass, while Gregory Mulenda-St-Pierre added another rushing touchdown for the RSEQ champions.

Montreal took a commanding 22-2 lead at halftime and maintained their dominance in the second half. The first quarter was the only period where the Carabins scored less than 13 points, totaling eight points in that frame.
