RCMP officials in Hay River, Northwest Territories, have arrested an individual on various charges following what they described as a “tense situation” on Sunday evening. According to a statement released on Tuesday, law enforcement received a report about a man who was under the influence and had departed his residence in violation of bail conditions while carrying a shotgun.
Later that same evening, officers located the individual back at his residence. Reportedly, he was displaying erratic behavior and still had a loaded shotgun in his possession. After a brief confrontation, the man reportedly discarded the firearm and advanced towards the officers, prompting them to utilize a Taser device to subdue him.
The 30-year-old suspect is facing multiple firearm-related charges, along with accusations of obstructing a peace officer, assaulting an officer, breaching bail conditions, and causing damage. The individual is presently in police custody.
