In the six weeks following the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas to end their two-year conflict, there have been frequent reports of Israeli attacks in Gaza. The truce, signed on Oct. 9, marked the initiation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, leaving unresolved issues for future discussions. Both parties have accused each other of violating commitments and hindering progress towards peace.

Data from Gaza’s Ministry of Health, compiled by Tech for Palestine, is being utilized by CBC News to track daily death tolls since Oct. 11. Israel agreed to pull back to a demarcated boundary known as the “yellow line” as part of the initial phase of the ceasefire plan, granting them control over more than half of Gaza. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned of consequences for crossing this line.

Several deadly incidents have occurred near and beyond the designated area, prompting concerns. Recent reports suggest that the Israeli military has allegedly encroached 300 meters past the agreed-upon yellow line in eastern Gaza City, a claim refuted by the Israeli military.

Since the ceasefire began on Oct. 10, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported over 300 Palestinian deaths and almost 900 injuries due to Israeli actions. The Gaza Government has documented nearly 500 ceasefire violations by Israel, including shootings, incursions, bombings, and property destruction.

Israel acknowledges the loss of three soldiers during the ceasefire and asserts targeting combatants in its operations. According to Gaza Health Ministry figures, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of around 70,000 Palestinians and over 170,800 serious injuries. The conflict escalated after a Hamas-led assault on southern Israel in 2023, resulting in casualties and hostages.
