Growing up in Digby, N.S., a predominantly English-speaking community with a French immersion program, Bailey Ross found a deep connection to Acadian culture later in life. Despite initial reservations, his journey led him to embrace his Acadian identity through familial roots and active involvement in francophone organizations. Ross’s complex linguistic background, shaped by diverse French influences, initially created self-doubt about his Acadian authenticity. However, through shared experiences with other Acadians and personal reflections, he found a sense of belonging and purpose in championing Acadian heritage. Ross’s unwavering dedication to the Acadian cause, living his life in French, and promoting francophone education exemplify his commitment to l’Acadie, solidifying his pride in being Acadian.
