Felix Auger-Aliassime, recovering from a recent back injury that sidelined him at the National Bank Open, showcased promising form as he advanced to the Round of 16 at the Cincinnati Open. The 26-year-old Montreal native secured a victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo of Argentina with a 7-5, 6-1 win on Tuesday night.

In a swift match lasting just one hour and 27 minutes, Auger-Aliassime outplayed Cerundolo to set up a showdown with Frances Tiafoe, who emerged victorious in a grueling match against Learner Tien, lasting two hours and 10 minutes.

Prior to this, Auger-Aliassime kicked off his Cincinnati Open campaign with a notable win against Stefanos Tsitsipas. In his recent match against Cerundolo, Auger-Aliassime displayed impressive stats, including six aces, five double faults, 22 unforced errors, and 19 winners. He capitalized on his service games and return games, winning decisively.

The Montreal tennis star had withdrawn from the NBO in Montreal due to a back injury sustained during training. Despite his absence, other notable players like Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic also opted out of the tournament for health-related reasons.
