Voters residing in District 2, Georgetown-Pownal, are set to participate in a provincial byelection on Monday, Dec. 8 to elect a new representative following the departure of former Progressive Conservative cabinet minister Steven Myers. The deadline for individuals to submit their nominations as candidates is Friday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m.
The outcome of the byelection will not alter the current political landscape in the province, as Premier Rob Lantz’s Progressive Conservatives maintain a majority in the 27-seat P.E.I. Legislative Assembly, with 19 seats in contrast to the Liberals’ four and the Green Party’s three.
A newly launched interactive mapping tool is now accessible on the Elections P.E.I. website, enabling voters to input their address to access information regarding their polling station location, voting schedules, and the list of registered candidates. Advance polls are scheduled for Nov. 29, Dec. 1, and Dec. 5, operating from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For updates on the byelection and to verify their details, voters can visit the Elections P.E.I. website or contact 1-888-234-8683 for further assistance.
