Destination Toronto has reported a successful initiative to attract more international visitors to Toronto. The organization recently established international offices in Germany and the U.K. and has observed an increase in visits from these regions. Kelly Jackson, vice president of destination development at Destination Toronto, stated that there has been an 11% growth in visitors from the U.K. and a 7% increase from the German market.

According to Destination Toronto, Canada is currently gaining global attention, leading to heightened interest in visiting the country. The organization is strategically positioning itself for sustained growth by fostering relationships and expanding its presence in key markets.

With Toronto set to be one of the host cities for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, Destination Toronto anticipates continued growth in the future. Vicki Reid, President of Sales and Operations at Jonview Canada, emphasized the importance of having a local representative to promote the destination, especially with upcoming markets like Mexico and China on the radar.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Hotel Toronto has seen a surge in revenue this summer, breaking records dating back to 2018. Christopher Ashby, the hotel’s Director of Commercial Operations, attributed this success to increased domestic travel within Canada. Notably, there has been a notable rise in European travelers, with a 45% increase in visitors from the U.K. this year.

Ashby highlighted Toronto’s appeal, citing its diversity, culinary scene, museums, and attractions as key attractions for visitors worldwide. The hope is that Toronto’s allure will continue to shine for travelers seeking a dynamic and multifaceted destination.
