A chainsaw has been recalled in both Canada and the United States due to a safety concern related to possible laceration risks. Owners of the Milwaukee Tool M18 FUEL 12” and 14’’ top handle chainsaws are advised to cease using them immediately, as per a recent federal government recall and safety announcement. The alert highlights that there is a potential issue where the chain brake may not effectively stop the chain from moving when activated, thus creating a laceration hazard.

Milwaukee has specified that chainsaws with the letter “A” as the fourth character in their serial number are impacted by this recall. Until October 21, there have been no documented incidents or injuries in Canada, although one laceration incident has been reported in the U.S., alongside two other related incidents.

Individuals in possession of the affected chainsaws are encouraged to reach out to Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation for a complimentary repair. They can register their tool on Milwaukee Tool’s eService Tool Support website to receive a prepaid shipping label for sending in the chainsaw for repair. Additionally, Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation can be contacted by phone at 833-953-2012, available from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday.

The recall was a collaborative effort involving Health Canada, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation.
