CF Montreal has terminated the employment of assistant coach Maxime Leconte after an internal disciplinary review. The decision was announced by the Major League Soccer team on Wednesday, with the specific grounds for Leconte’s dismissal kept confidential.
Leconte, a 35-year-old from France, had joined the coaching staff in May but had only been with the club for a short period. His departure coincides with Marco Donadel being appointed as CF Montreal’s permanent head coach, a move that occurred two weeks prior.
Donadel, an Italian, assumed the role on an interim basis in March and successfully navigated the team through a challenging season, culminating in a record of 6-18-10. CF Montreal notably fielded the youngest roster with the lowest payroll in Major League Soccer during the season.
