During the upcoming Winterlude festival, spectators will have the opportunity to witness snowmobilers performing aerial stunts reaching heights of up to 12 meters. The ByWard Market District Authority (BMDA) has revealed a collaboration with Barbegazi, a winter event renowned for its extreme sports showcases.
Scheduled from Feb. 6 to 8, York Street in the ByWard Market area will transform into a stage for Barbegazi’s thrilling snowmobile demonstrations. Melanie Anderson, the acting executive director and general manager of the BMDA, expressed in a press statement, “Barbegazi will introduce a fresh winter entertainment concept to our region. It’s dynamic, memorable, and showcases the possibilities of reimagining the activation of public spaces during the winter season.”
Rideau-Vanier Coun. Stéphanie Plante told Radio-Canada that she anticipates the performance will attract more visitors to Winterlude and help rejuvenate the neighborhood. Winterlude is scheduled to take place from Jan. 30 to Feb. 16.
