A businessman in Drumheller, Alberta, has been accused of sexually assaulting four teenagers who were employed by him over the past ten years. Bernard Patrick Germain, 59, known as Bernie from his burger joint, Bernie and the Boys, is facing a total of 11 charges, which include sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation. Germain has been running his business in the town of east-central Alberta for over two decades.
Initially, the RCMP revealed that Germain was charged in connection with one alleged victim. However, following two weeks from the first set of charges, the police announced that three additional complainants have come forward, claiming they were victimized during their teenage years while working for Germain. The four sexual interference charges indicate that the purported victims were under 16 years old at the time of the incidents.
According to court documents, the alleged sexual assaults occurred approximately a decade ago. Germain has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Drumheller next month. Despite attempts by CBC News to obtain a comment from Germain’s business, there has been no response received.
