Dolly Parton, renowned for her inspiring journey from humble beginnings to stardom, continues to captivate audiences through her music, theme park, podcast, and now a Broadway-bound musical titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical.” This upcoming production is set to bring forth a narrative that delves into the essence of Dolly’s life, as expressed in her own words and the melodies that have shaped her existence.

In a heartfelt video announcement, the 80-year-old icon assures viewers that the musical will authentically portray her experiences. Parton emphasizes that the show will not only focus on glitz and glamour but will delve into her roots, struggles, joys, and personal evolution.

The musical is slated to feature a blend of new songs created specifically for the production and some of Parton’s most iconic hits, including “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.” Performances are scheduled to kick off in New York City on December 7, with a run extending until November 21, 2027.

Parton, expressing her excitement, describes this venture as a realization of her dreams, marking another milestone in her illustrious career spanning nearly seven decades. With over 3,000 songs to her credit and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, she stands as a distinguished member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The musical made its debut in Nashville last summer, enjoying a sold-out six-week engagement at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Director Bartlett Sher commended the profound connection audiences share with Dolly, highlighting her ability to inspire and uplift people through her artistry.

The show promises an intimate portrayal of Parton’s life, offering an unfiltered perspective that goes beyond the glitz and glamour often associated with her persona. Tickets for the Broadway production will be available to the public starting Friday, July 10.
