Environment Canada issued a yellow warning for the Avalon and Burin peninsulas, expecting 15 to 24 centimeters of snow by Wednesday evening. While rain fell in southern areas, wind and snow warnings persisted but were anticipated to cease by the evening.
Throughout the evening, the eastern Avalon faced wind warnings with gusts up to 80-100 km/h. Clarenville, Terra Nova, and the Connaigre Peninsula were under an orange winter storm warning, predicting an additional 10 centimeters of snow with gusts reaching 80-100 km/h. CBC meteorologist Ashley Brauweiler projected heavy snow and strong winds intensifying before tapering off later in the evening.
