Due to the first significant snowfall of the season in Prince Edward Island, all public schools on the island were closed on Wednesday, causing travel disruptions. Earlier in the day, a special weather statement was issued for Queens and Prince counties, along with a snowfall warning for Kings County, but both were lifted by late morning.
Several health services in P.E.I. delayed their opening hours due to the inclement weather, with Islanders advised to check the Health P.E.I. website for the latest updates. UPEI locations resumed operations at noon, while Holland College campuses welcomed students at 10:30 a.m.
Government offices in various regions, including West Prince, eastern Prince County, Queens County, and Charlottetown, are now open. However, offices in Kings County are set to open at noon. Service Canada centers in Summerside and Charlottetown are operational, with the Montague and Souris branches scheduled to open at noon.
Charlottetown City Hall and its administrative offices are also open, while Island Montessori Academy in Stratford and Cornwall remained closed for the day. Additionally, all Northumberland ferry crossings between Caribou, N.S., and Wood Islands, P.E.I., were canceled for Wednesday.
