The FBI has announced the arrest of Rasheed Pascua Hossain, a 32-year-old individual from Vancouver who went by the alias “JP Morgan,” for his involvement in cocaine trafficking and money laundering alongside fugitive Ryan Wedding. Hossain was a significant figure in Wedding’s money-laundering scheme, as indicated in a recently unsealed U.S. federal grand jury indictment.
Recent reports reveal that another former associate of Ryan Wedding has cooperated with authorities. The FBI enlisted a new informant this year, who had engaged in drug trafficking with Wedding and assisted in multiple murders.
In a separate development, ten individuals were apprehended this week in connection with an FBI investigation into a drug-trafficking network allegedly led by Wedding. Wedding, a former Olympic athlete turned alleged drug lord, remains at large.
According to court filings seeking the extradition of Canadian co-defendants in the case, an unnamed drug trafficker agreed to help U.S. authorities investigate Wedding’s criminal activities, particularly the murder of Jonathan Acebedo-Garcia, a key witness who was killed in Colombia.
The documents indicate that Wedding suspected the identity of the FBI’s confidential source and sought confirmation from an informant assisting law enforcement. Wedding also expressed a desire to eliminate the FBI source, offering a substantial sum of money for the task.
Efforts were made to locate and eliminate Acebedo-Garcia, including arranging for his photo to be published on a crime-related blog to gather information on his whereabouts. Wedding allegedly sent an individual to Colombia to find a property operated by the FBI source, leading to Acebedo-Garcia’s assassination in January of this year.
Wedding reportedly sent pictures of Acebedo-Garcia’s body to multiple individuals, boasting about his role in the murder.
