A sunny weekend is on the horizon for the Waterloo region and surrounding areas, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

The Mistletoe Trail has returned with seven unique stops across the Waterloo region, offering picturesque spots for selfies and romantic moments under mistletoe designed by local artists.

The Waterloo Central Railway is offering various holiday adventures, including the Merry Mission Dayliner ride for all ages, the Cheerlight Charter in the evening, and the Santa’s Nightcap ride for those 19 and over, with multiple options available over the upcoming weekends.

Hawksley Workman will be performing at Sonic Hall in Guelph on Friday night, with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Amanda Kind and James Downham will be showcasing “Time of My Life: The Greatest Duets in Concert” on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in Kitchener.

Cheecho the Conure, a small parrot at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, is turning 17, and there will be birthday festivities all day Sunday, featuring cake, punch, crafts, and singalongs.

The Kitchener Rangers will be at home on Friday night against the Ottawa 67’s and will be heading to Oshawa on Sunday evening. The Guelph Storm has three games scheduled for the weekend, with two home games and one away game in Windsor.

The CPKC Holiday Train will be hosting free concerts by Smash Mouth and JJ Wilde, along with dazzling light displays, serving as a fundraiser for local food banks.

In addition to these events, there will be two Santa Claus parades taking place over the weekend in Elmira and Puslinch.

Puzzle enthusiasts can participate in a Puzzle Swap event at the Waterloo Public Library, and there will be special exhibits at the Cambridge Public Library showcasing wartime history through photographic artifacts.

The K-W Little Theatre will be presenting “God of Carnage,” a dark comedy directed by Ryan Bassett, running on weekends until December 7.

Various craft and maker markets will be bustling with activity throughout the region, offering a wide array of handmade goods and holiday treats for shoppers to enjoy.
