Santa Claus and his reindeer are set to visit Fort Erie, Ontario, this Saturday for the annual holiday parade. The sleigh will be illuminated with bright lights and elevated on a modified construction vehicle float. Attendees are urged to stay alert for the Grinch, who has been causing concern about disrupting the event, as reported by the Bridgeburg’s Business Improvement Area (BIA).

Korinne Antaya, the BIA’s vice-chair, emphasized the importance of vigilance by the community to safeguard the Christmas tree from the Grinch’s threats of unplugging it. The parade is scheduled to commence at 5 p.m. from Gilmore Road to Central Avenue before turning onto Jarvis Street, marking the second year of the Grinch’s presence, according to Antaya.

The festive occasion will feature marching bands from neighboring regions and a performance stage for live music by the Niagara-based cover duo Laurel & Hulley outside the Fort Erie Post Office. The BIA will also host its inaugural afterglow party in the historic district and a beer garden offering prime views of the parade. Additionally, children can enjoy activities like riding the Polar Express train and pony rides at the event.

Antaya described the parade’s aim to evoke a nostalgic, traditional parade experience reminiscent of childhood. Other upcoming parades in the Niagara region this season include the Welland Santa Claus Parade, Thorold’s Santa event with pictures with Santa and hot chocolate, West Lincoln Community Centre’s holiday market, Port Colborne’s Lighted Santa Claus Parade, Grimsby’s 68th annual Santa Claus parade where kids can send letters to Santa, and Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Christmas parade.

This year’s festivities promise a variety of entertainment and family-friendly activities for all to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
