A juvenile moose found itself trapped in a horse paddock on a ranch in Clinton, B.C., prompting the property owner, Shauna McAllister, to seek help in freeing the animal. McAllister, a seasoned wildlife worker, noticed the unexpected visitor one morning and, concerned about its safety near a highway, attempted to guide it back to the forest.
Despite several unsuccessful efforts to coax the moose out, McAllister eventually enlisted the aid of the B.C. Conservation Officer Service and the RCMP. With a Canadian flag as a potential tool, the officers tried various methods to move the moose without success.
After observing the situation, McAllister took matters into her own hands. She boldly approached the moose, urging it to follow her to safety. Surprisingly, the moose complied, allowing McAllister and the officers to lead it out of the paddock and into the nearby forest.
Reflecting on the unique experience, Const. Taylor Sippel expressed gratitude for the successful rescue mission. Both the RCMP and the B.C. Conservation Officer Service advised the public to report distressed wildlife while maintaining a safe distance.
