The cost of Toronto Blue Jays tickets is skyrocketing with no signs of slowing down, making this year’s World Series one of the most expensive ever. The Blue Jays are set to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the World Series, with significant excitement surrounding the matchup. Often referred to as “Canada’s team,” the Blue Jays last won a World Series in 1993 and have been seen as the underdogs against L.A., holding a 3-2 lead in the series following a recent victory.

Securing tickets to Friday’s game has been extremely challenging, and the situation is worsening by the day. Prices for Game 6 are averaging over $2,000 US, approximately $2,800 Cdn, while a potential Game 7 could reach nearly $3,000 US, around $4,200 Cdn, on the resale market. Data from Victory Live, which monitors verified secondary-market transactions, indicates a steady increase in average prices for Game 6 leading up to the event.

As a result, both devoted baseball fans and casual followers of the playoffs have expressed significant disappointment. Reports have suggested that this year’s World Series may be the most expensive sporting event ever held in Canada. At present, the cheapest available ticket on Ticketmaster is priced at $1,462.50 for a spot in the Rogers Centre outfield district, while StubHub offers tickets starting at around $1,600.

Victory Live’s data reveals that prices for Game 6 are currently below the resale average for last year’s Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Rogers Centre, which averaged $2,320 US. However, if a Game 7 between the Blue Jays and Dodgers materializes, ticket prices are projected to surpass that benchmark.

The exorbitant ticket prices have prompted Ontario Premier Doug Ford to address the issue, pledging to investigate the matter. He criticized the perceived exploitation of consumers, stating that having a single entity controlling ticket sales is unfair to the public. It is worth noting that Ford’s government eliminated a portion of a law in 2019 that would have capped ticket resale prices at 50% above face value.
