The Thunder Bay Police Service is currently investigating a homicide on the north side of the city. According to a press release on Friday, authorities were alerted to a 67-year-old man found deceased in a residence on College Street’s 100 block following a 911 call around 3 p.m. on Thursday.
Initial findings suggest that the man may have been the victim of an attempted break-in that was not specifically targeted. While details remain limited, the police are appealing for information from the public, especially concerning any suspicious activities in the area on Thursday.
Acting inspector Chris Carlucci of the Thunder Bay police urged individuals with dashcam or surveillance footage from College Street’s vicinity to come forward. He specified that footage from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday is particularly valuable for the investigation.
In addition to this case, authorities are reviewing recent break-ins in the area to potentially uncover additional leads. Those with pertinent information can provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers. Carlucci emphasized the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of any suspicious incidents to law enforcement in light of this alarming event.
