After the recent World Series defeat, John Schneider is now in the running for the prestigious title of American League Manager of the Year following his leadership of the Toronto Blue Jays to the top spot in the league. The recipient of this accolade, determined by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, will be revealed on November 11. Joining Schneider as finalists are Dan Wilson from the Seattle Mariners and Stephen Vogt from the Cleveland Guardians.
Schneider, who has been managing for four years and completed his third full season, played a pivotal role in the remarkable resurgence of the Blue Jays. The team underwent a significant transformation after finishing last in the AL East with a 74-88 record in 2024. In the 2025 season, Toronto secured a 94-68 record, clinching the division title by triumphing over the New York Yankees in a tiebreaker game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Blue Jays continued their remarkable journey in the postseason, defeating the Yankees in a four-game series and the Mariners in a thrilling seven-game championship series. However, their extraordinary run came to an end when they faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series and were defeated in seven intense games.
